The specials are thankfully all on the UHD (but 1080p), and the 40 minute making of, which I watched today, is actually really good and gave me a newfound appreciation for the movie.

Everything Everywhere All at Once comes to Blu-ray Disc from Lionsgate Home Entertainment featuring 1080p AVC encoded video and lossless Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7. The absurdist fantasy drama verse-jumps to home theaters with an absurdly fantastic Dolby Atmos soundtrack that perfectly energizes and complements the wildly fanciful visuals. The Music Visual is a sort of a music video for the song This Is a Life, featuring an appropriate backdrop. The whole thing started after Kwan watched a double feature of Fight Club and The Matrix, which got him thinking about the concept of the multiverse, but the project didn’t pick up momentum until they had the idea to use that as the backdrop for a family drama. As Raymond slings a fanny pack around like nunchucks, everything stays forward-focused, surround use barely noted.

The English subtitles for the Mandarin and Cantonese dialogue are burned into the film itself, sometimes creatively so. Remarkably enough for a genre film, it also won three of the four acting categories: Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, Best Supporting Actress for Jamie Lee Curtis, and Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan.

I love the nature of the story’s plot which makes this the kind of film that you don’t just walk in the middle of and pick up for the first time. First off, this is a mind bending, intelligently crafted sci-fi action comedy with a formulaic yet, refreshing narrative approach that boldly explores themes surrounding family, metaphysics and how we as human beings can sometimes take life for granted.

audit gets "interrupted" by Evelyn's growing awareness that other realities are beginning to intrude on hers. The film garnered eleven Academy Award nominations in 2023, and brought home seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Director, Editing, and Original Screenplay. Some might be due to different distributers in the UK for the film , but that didn't seem to stop BR. It would be far too simplistic to think that all of the award attention given to Everything Everywhere All at Once is due to how much heart that the film demonstrates, because as anyone who actually watches genre efforts with an open mind can attest, that’s hardly a unique quality.

All the while, black levels are rich and true from start to finish, providing the alternating aspect ratios, which switch between 1. Evelyn is particularly worried about how her father (James Hong) will react, and isn’t willing to be honest with him about it. In this instance, it's because the studio that remastered and sell it are Kino Lorber and they only sell in the USA/N. It’s not really a new thing, studios will look at the market in a particular country and decide whether it’s profitable to release something on a given format, the U. In centering their plot around the day in the life of a dissatisfied Evelyn, they balance several genres, wildly creative visuals and deeply complex ideas into a harmoniously poignant, heart-warming portrait of one person's existential crisis.

Viewing Everything Everywhere in Ultra HD didn’t make for an especially compelling viewing experience, however, I found it to be a complimentary improvement over the 1080p Blu-ray presentation. As for the disc, the image and sound is good but the 4k is only marginally better and might be too dark. I've had to import these three, Touch of Evil and Hard Target, all KL releases because they won't sell them overseas themselves. Now, having said all of that, Everything Everywhere All at Once is chaotic and most assuredly takes the road less traveled which could prove frustrating. It took some concentration to start out with (till my brain got up to speed), i liked the multi-verse theme, the time shifting as well as the family theme, great story well told.

This is a contemporary and stylish visual film, that adheres to sepia tones and color grading, which ultimately leaves some sequences appearing less visually engaging than others. In that respect, Everything Everywhere All at Once is indeed everything and everywhere, but it’s also for anybody—and all at once, to boot. It’s a new age Christmas Carol, sort of, unrelenting in idiosyncratic ideas, and with no fear as to how to approach them.Color reproduction is consistent, with primaries like blue and red appearing richer, and more delineated. Calibrated with Calman color calibration software and Portrait Displays C6 HDR2000 colorimeter from Portrait. During the lengthy development process, Sony and Marvel studios ended up beating them to the punch with films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Phase Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in a way, that just laid the groundwork that made the madness of Everything Everywhere All at Once easier for audiences to understand and accept. It’s a mind-bending trip through the multiverse that mixes comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts, and family drama into a chaotic but still internally consistent whole.
